My doctor told me my odds of success for one IVF cycle were about 30%.

What sounded hopeful at first ended in a failed round and the start of a four-year IVF journey involving several different doctors, endless procedures, unexpected complications, heartbreaking losses–and eventually, the deepest joy I have known.

I started Harbor IVF Doula to give patients the coaching and doula support I wished I had:

– Support to stay emotionally grounded through the ups and downs of IVF;

– Guidance to to make informed decisions about clinics, doctors and additional cycles;

– Coaching to navigate the financial and logistical side of treatment;

– A compassionate sounding board for conversations with partners and loved ones during emotionally complex moments.

ABOUT ME

I'm Cynthia, and my IVF experience was quite literally a journey...

...taking me to doctors in 3 different countries over 4+ years

Off to work with a tote bag full of syringes and that stupid red sharps container you don’t know where to hide? Been there.

Ducking out of your company’s holiday party to do your injections in a grimy restaurant bathroom? Yep.

Mixing medications on your car’s dashboard as passersby peer through your windshield like you need an intervention? That too.

Sometimes IVF fits into our lives like a fish on a bicycle. And yet, here we are, making space for this unwieldy, slippery, sometimes ridiculous new thing - and finding a place to grow.

In addition to extensive first-hand experience with IVF and an international perspective, I’m also a filmmaker, educator and public speaker.
My work in documentary film has given me the skills to listen with empathy and transform obstacles into action. As an educator, I foster curiosity and independence in my students.

As a public speaker, I work with diverse communities, on using the power of our experiences to catalyze positive change.

Let's talk and find the support that fits your needs.
